The
Arab
city
School Board operates four schools: a primary school consisting of

K-2, an elementary
school with grades 3-5, a junior high school with grades 6-8, and a high school
composed of grades 9-12. Enrollment in the city schools total approximately 2600
students. The Alabama State Department of Education and the Southern Association
of colleges and Schools accredit all four schools.
The Arab City School System provides a full day, full-year kindergarten program
for all eligible children.
School bus transportation is provided to students
within the city limits. Approximately 66% of the students
attending school in Arab are transported by bus.
Arab City Schools provide quality in education
through facilities and outstanding staff and technological
opportunities found primarily in larger school systems.
Technological opportunities for Arab students begin in kindergarten and
culminate at the high school with various cutting edge technologies,
including the hardware and software necessary to meet industry
standards in the field of business, computers and drafting.
Through a united effort of the school system, Arab City Council,
private businesses, local civic organizations and others, Arab schools
provide technology and training which benefits the students, the
community and local industries.
A five-member board appointed by the City Council governs the Arab City School
System. The School board appoints the Superintendent of Education to administer
the school system. The State of
Alabama provides approximately 70% of the system's operating budget. Local revenue provides
the remaining amounts.
Results of standardized achievement tests show that students in the
Arab
City
School consistently score well above state and national levels. The school system strives
to ensure that each student, upon graduation, will be equipped with the basic
education needed to enter the world of work or to go on to college or university.
Snead
State
Community College in Boaz provides dual enrollment of qualified high school students who wish to
take college level classes simultaneously.
Approximately 60% of high school graduates enter an institution of higher
education.
Vocational and technical education courses are taught at
Arab
High School . Students may also take courses at the
Marshall
Technical
School .
In addition to the regular instructional program in
grades K-12, special education classes are offered to students with
mental, emotional or speech disabilities. Special classes are
also available for gifted and talented students.
Several institutions of higher education are within commuting distance of
Arab and offer excellent opportunities for students interested in pursuing college
