Arab, Brindlee Mountain, and the surrounding communities are part of a vital
agricultural region. The farms, both large and small, in the four-county region
of Marshall, Cullman, Blount and Morgan counties enrich the area's economy.
The poultry industry is the main source of agricultural income, along with contributions
for fruit, vegetables, corn, soybeans, hay, hogs, and both beef and dairy cattle.
Total gross farm income for this four-county region in 1997 was $419,249,000.00,
which was 40% of the total farm income for the state of Alabama. Poultry accounted
for approximately 79% of this total.
